Domestic water systems

Automatic domestic waterworks are self-priming pumps with an electronic pressure switch. These are used to pump water from cisterns or wells, whereby they can be permanently installed or alternatively mobile and flexibly used in the garden. Automatic domestic water systems are used for garden irrigation and sprinkling.

Functions of automatic domestic water systems

A major advantage of automatic domestic water systems is that the pump or pressure switch reacts automatically when water is drawn off by the user (e.g. when the valve or tap on the garden hose is opened). The electronic pressure switch activates the pump on due to the pressure drop in the pipe when water is drawn off. When the consumer is closed, the pump switches off automatically. The electronic pressure switch thus provides dry-running protection and prevents damage to the pump. This mode of operation means that water is available continuously and without interruption. The electronics of domestic water pumps automatically detect the water flow and switch the device off accordingly. In addition to conventional automatic domestic water systems, there are also models with an expansion vessel as a storage tank. These are called domestic waterworks and can also be found in our range.

Decision criteria for choosing an automatic domestic water system or domestic waterworks

Automatic domestic water systems can draw water up to eight metres from a cistern or well. Submersible pumps (borehole pumps, if a lot of pressure is required) are used for greater pumping depths. A pre-filter is sometimes required to protect the pump from sucked in solids and sand. The number and type of users also determines the choice of pump. Many users and/or users with large water requirements need a correspondingly powerful pump as a domestic automatic water system. For example, this is the case when several lawn sprinklers are to be put into operation at the same time. Pumps with different performance ranges are available for this purpose. Depending on your requirements for the automatic domestic water system, you should select devices that fulfil the required pressure and flow rate. For the supply of domestic water in the house (e.g. toilet flushing), an automatic domestic water system with pressurised tank (domestic waterworks) will be used as a rule. This means that the pump does not switch on every time water is drawn off, thus minimising wear and tear on the pump.
