Submersible sewage pumps
Submersible sewage pumps are also known as waste water pumps and can pump waste water and water containing faeces. Due to the possible build-up of sewer gases in waste water treatment plants, submersible waste water pumps have special motors and cables that are explosion-proof (explosion protection in accordance with the Atex directive).
Use of submersible sewage pumps
Submersible sewage pumps pump coarsely contaminated water containing organic, inorganic or mineral components. As a rule, they have a single-stage design and are not self-priming. When in use, they can be completely immersed in the pumped liquid. The areas of application for submersible sewage pumps are varied due to the range of different models available. They are used in municipal and industrial applications in particular, such as the construction, paper, metal and food industries.
Types of sewage pumps
Submersible sewage pumps are suitable for installation in pump shafts made of plastic or concrete. They are used in pumping stations in the private and public sector, along with other applications. Sewage pumps can be used to drain single and multi-family homes as well as public/municipal facilities. Zehnder Pumpen offers various models with a single-channel impeller or as a cutter pump. Pumps with an open single-channel impeller have a sufficiently large and free passage (grain size) for pumping solids contained in the sewage. In both cases, this ensures blockage-free operation. In case of pumps with a cutting unit or cutting wheel (also known as a chopper or macerator), smaller pipe diameters of the pressure line can be used for discharge into the sewage system. This is also referred to as pressure drainage. Depending on the location (single-family home, apartment block, municipal drainage system) and the prevailing requirements, submersible sewage pumps with different capacities can be used. Zehnder pumps are available in either 230 V or 400 V. Depending on the model, our sewage pumps have a maximum flow rate of 165 cum/h and a maximum delivery head of 39 m. Zehnder offers powerful pumps for sewage with a maximum power consumption of 8,700 W.
