Macerators
Macerators are individual WC lifting units for limited use in accordance with DIN EN 12050-3. They are used to dispose of waste water (grey water) and sewage (black water) from toilets, showers, washbasins and bidets. Macerators are often used for bathrooms in basements below the backflow level or the level of the sewer. They may only be operated by a small group of users and are therefore not suitable for apartment blocks or public buildings.
Features of the macerators from Zehnder Pumpen
Our models are fitted with a cutting unit, often referred to as a shredder. This is used to shred the solids contained in the sewage. This increases the operational safety of the unit by minimising the risk of the pump becoming blocked. The macerators are available as models for installation directly behind the toilet or for installation behind the wall. This means that both upright and wall-hung toilets can be connected. The Gerios 2-in-1 lifting unit allows both types of connection. The unit is vented through the roof or by using an activated carbon filter. Macerators are controlled fully automatically by pressure measurement. If the water level is unacceptably high, the unit emit an alarm signal.
The use of macerators
Macerators, like waste water lifting units, remove dirty water without faeces and waste water containing faeces. They lift the sewage above the backflow level and pump it into the sewage system. The integrated cutting unit shreds larger solids to prevent blockages. This type of lifting unit is used, for example, for a basement bathroom or a basement flat in a detached house. The smaller storage volume and the smaller motors differ significantly from the larger sewage lifting units.

Among other things, you can obtain the Gerios single WC lifting unit for limited use in private areas below the backflow level. We also offer the Microboy single WC lifting unit for limited use in private areas below the backflow level in accordance with EN12050-3. The Gerios and the Microboy Pro are able to shred wet wipes and feminine hygiene products with their cutting unit without any problems. If you opt for a macerator, the drainage objects must be located in the same room.
